Uber Baby has closed its boutique at Shops at West End in St. Louis Park. But Uber Outlet will reopen this Thursday with baby, toddler and kids apparel (up to size 10) plus shoes, diaper bags, baby accessories and gifts – all up to 80 percent off retail. Starting this week, the outlet will resume regular hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Owners Lynne and Dan Gonsior plan to return to their roots, focusing on baby and children’s merchandise at the outlet. (You might see some maternity apparel down the road.) Meanwhile, Lynne is already working on the next chapter: Uber Baby Lifestyles, a full line of baby apparel and accessories launching Spring 2012.

Uber Outlet scored a major shipment of fine menswear from clubby luxury brand House of Carrington. Enough so that the former store turned pop-up retailer has decided to return to regular hours through the December – open every Wednesday evening, 5 to 8 and Thursday-Saturday, 10 to 5. Men’s pants, originally priced as high as $325 are down to $89.95 – with two for one specials. Ladies, just wait – the outlet is planning a Black Friday sale that will include deals on women’s cashmere, too. Uber Outlet is at 6015 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis.

The Uber Outlet promised bargains from some of the Twin Cities’ most exclusive shops, and it is starting to deliver. Owner Lynne Gonsior told me this morning that Galleria designer boutique Arafina and cool, contemporary clothing store Ivy (both women and men’s) are sending sale merchandise to the outlet. The first arrivals land on Tuesday, May 20. Also coming next week: premium jeans from Hudson, Serfontaine, Joe’s and True Religion. Race ya!

Last week, I promised the scoop on Baby Grand’s new store on Mainstreet in Hopkins and I have not forgotten…it’s just taking a bit longer to open than owners had hoped. The new target is this weekend. But call first. Meanwhile, swimwear shop Nani Nalu is frantically preparing for its move from Ridgedale Center to 50th and France on Feb. 1. The new shop promises an expanded selection and a few surprises – check back next week for that story. Then on Feb. 5, the folks behind Expecting Uber Baby will open their Uber Outlet (I’m getting a sneak peek this week, so I’ll let you know what to…expect.) And in March, Uber Baby will open at the Galleria with a new focus on children’s shoes. Then in April, Hot Mama heads west for its latest addition: a Wayzata store.
And we haven’t even hit spring! Lots more shopping news to come – and this is the place to find it first. Wondering about a specific store opening or what will become of a vacant store front in the Twin Cities? Let me know and I’ll try to get you the details.
