Primp at West End

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

The ladies of Primp are busily pressing dresses and folding sweaters in anticipation of their Thursday opening at Shops at West End. I got a sneak peek on Monday and can assure you they’ll be ready: the spacious boutique, between Hot Mama and Anthropologie, is full of everyday basics and trend pieces, plus sweet little dresses and sparkly numbers perfect for holiday parties. Oh, and did I mention? Virtually everything is under $100; find many items for less than $50. Stop by the new store from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday for wine, treats, and first dibs on those dresses!

(You can also visit Primp’s original location at Selby and Dale in St. Paul.)

West End Gets Primp

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Primp, the local store that has carved a niche for itself selling affordable trend apparel in a chic boutique setting at Selby and Dale in St. Paul, is opening a second location at Shops at West End in St. Louis Park. Primp owners Michele and Wesley, designers turned retailers, have great style and refreshing sensibility. Virtually everything they sell is under $100; a shocking number of tops, dresses and accessories are less than $50. Sure, the look skews young, but you can always find pieces that will work for mothers as well as their teen and twentysomething daughters. Primp at West End is scheduled to open in early November.

Primp yourself in September

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Fashion obsessed and broke, the local designers behind Rapport bags and accessories are opening a cheap chic boutique  called Primp at Selby and Dale in St. Paul. They’re promising fashion forward women’s apparel under $100 – most dresses under $50. I’m there! No, doubt they’ve got their work cut out for them, competing in the fast fashion category against the likes of H&M and Forever 21 where volume keeps prices down. But I think a lot of women crave a boutique experience that doesn’t break the bank. Extra incentive for students: get 10 percent off every purchase with a student ID. Primp at 618 Selby, is scheduled to open Sept. 16.
