Not another bunch of roses

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Got a sneak peak of Bachman’s new designer arrangements. Anxious to prove that it offers more than mass produced bouquets, Bachman’s is introducing a collection of edgier arrangements called “Daring and Different,” created by staff floral designers. Nine designs, which will change seasonally, range from $59 to $89. Look for them in Bachman’s stores (available for local delivery) by Feb. 1 – just in time for a unique Valentine.

Holiday Ideas House

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Bachman’s Holiday Ideas House opens today. The historic family home at 5936 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis, adjacent to the Bachman’s store, is made over seasonally to inspire decorating ideas. Themes for holiday decorating and entertaining:

  • Give the porch a soothing and relaxing look for winter with birch and simple, natural elements.
  • This is the time of year to go formal in the dining room: traditional dinner setting, vintage silver serving pieces and for a festive touch, poinsettia dinnerware.
  • Get the house dressed up for New Year’s Eve with silver touches and blue-green accents
  • Re-purpose a sun room as a cocktail and bar area
  • Pull out the peppermint and holly dinnerware for cookie-making
  • Fancy yourself Candy Spelling by turning a spare room into a neat and pretty gift wrapping space…at least for the season.

Bachman’s Ideas House is open today through Sunday, Dec. 12 (closed Mondays). Tickets are $5 with 20 percent of proceeds benefiting Children’s Home Society and Family Services. Visitors will receive a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase at Bachman’s. Order tickets online, call 612-861-7311 or buy at the store.

Bachman’s goes vintage

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Plant markers Bachman's is teaming up with junk queen Ki Nassauer to reinvent its gift and home business. The new department will mix vintage finds with repurpose artifacts and artisan-made decor. Goods will appeal to a variety of tastes from Euro and modern country to loft living, cottage and kids. Nassauer, whose Junk Market Occasional Sales have grown into an annual Junk Bonanza as well as several decorating books and an editor post at the new Flea Market Stylemagazine, has been scouring the country for vintage finds and unique artists – the kinds of items you wouldn't expect to find at a major garden store. The new gift and home department will be unveiled on March 20 at Bachman's flagship Lyndale Avenue store in Minneapolis as well as Plymouth and Eden Prairie locations. The plan is to expanded it to Bachman's in Apple Valley, Maplewood and Fridley by August. | Mpls.St.Paul Magazine © 2008 MSP Communications, Inc. All rights reserved
