Ali shops. All the time.
As senior editor of Shopping & Style for Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, Ali (better known in print and on the airwaves as Allison Kaplan, but we’re all friends here, so let’s go with Ali) is a leading Twin Cities authority on retail and fashion. Ali hosts “Shop Girls” on myTalk107.1 every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is a frequent guest on other radio and television programs. In 2006, she founded AliShops.com—The Insider’s Guide to Twin Cities Shopping—and in her new role with the magazine, is now integrating her online shopping directory with mspmag.com.
Prior to joining Mpls.St.Paul in December 2010, Ali was the shopping and style columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, where she worked for more than a decade. She has written for numerous magazines including Lucky, ShopETC. and North Shore in Chicago. She covered consumer issues for the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism.
Ali owes her very existence to shopping—her parents met while working at Dayton’s. She grew up immersed in the retail world, commentating her first fashion show with her mom at age 6.
