She didn’t make it to New York Fashion Week this season on Project Runway, still, Danielle Everine completed her own Fall 2011 collection, which she will unveil next week at Cliche in Minneapolis.
“Call Me Ishmael” is inspired by life aboard a ship. Everine says she used the theme to explore what a modern day heroine might wear during a trans-Atlantic journey. These sketches are a first glimpse. Everine promises soft dresses floating under heavy, utilitarian outerwear. Look for old/new combinations of wool, leather, oilcloth and rope. Everine partnered with Lisa Luck of Yeti Records to create custom textile prints, and for the first time, Everine designed travel handbags with laser-etched motifs.
It seems Project Runway’s loss could be the Twin Cities’ gain. Be among the first to see the collection at its debut, 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 11 at Cliche, 2403 Lyndale Ave., Mpls., 612-870-0420.
